PROIV Version 7 is the supported platform for Aurora.  Move to Version 7 to open up the exciting world of Aurora

Explore through this section and find out more about the features in this new release, such as dynamic resizing of pages and drag and drop functionality.

Drag and drop

We live and work in a world where rich user interfaces, such as that on iPads for example, are now seen as essential and the way forward.

New functionality in PROIV Version 7 will enable an improved user experience.

Drag information directly from one part of your application to another and see the result live. For example, from a list of salespeople, users can drag one salesperson's name across to a chart and within seconds the chart will refresh and update with that person's sales figures.

Drag and drop functionality will be available in PROIV Version 7 soon.

Drag and Drop - Benefits

Easy to use - familiar environment means fast user adoption rate

Instant  - view the data you want in a couple of clicks of the mouse

Dynamic Resizing

Imagine having more information at your fingertips in your PROIV applications!

PROIV Version 7 brings new resizing functionality. With today's higher resolution screens, you can now take advantage of more information displaying on a page at one time. Dynamic resizing enables the changing of the size and position of objects on a PROIV screen when the browser is resized, simply by dragging the corner of the browser window. Clicking on the window's 'maximise' button has the same effect.

You can also resize pop-up windows.

Just resize your browser screen to see more data at one time. The controls on your screen will resize without you having to fully re-develop your existing application.

Find out more about this new feature by clicking the tabs on the left.

Dynamic Resizing - Technical Information

Dynamic Resizing functionality enables the changing of the size and position of objects on a PROIV screen when the browser is resized by dragging the corner of the browser window, or by clicking the window's Maximise button. (Pop-Up Windows can also be resized.) This applies to PROIV applications deployed using Open Client technology.

When a PROIV Session connects, the application is rendered in the PROIV Panel, which is sized according to the PROIV Developer screen size. The PROIV Panel is held within a browser frame, this may be larger or smaller than the panel. If the frame is larger the PROIV Panel, it increases the rows and columns to utilise the additional space. If the browser frame is smaller than the panel, scroll bars are displayed on the frame so that all of the panel can be viewed. The PROIV Panel will not reduce in size below the size in rows and columns specified PROIV Developer screen size.

The following Object Types can be configured to resize:

  • Paging Areas
  • Pseudo-ActiveX Controls
  • Boxes and Lines
  • List Boxes
  • Pop-Ups

Other Features - Technical Information

LDAP

PROIV Version 7 ships with three new areas of functionality which enhance the logon process.

User-Defined Logon

The User-Defined Logon functionality enables you to tailor the logon screen to meet your own requirements. The new @UserDefinedLogon Screen function can be altered to suit your business needs, you can add your company logo and change the look and feel to match your business branding. It does not use the LDAP authentication functionality and will log onto PROIV as normal.

LDAP User-Defined Logon

You can also decide to use the working LDAP example which is shipped with PROIV Version 7 if you want to take advantage of the LDAP support. The @UserDefinedLogonLDAP replaces the standard PROIV logon screen, and enables the connection and authentication to an LDAP server.

LDAP SSO

PROIV also provides a new SSO, which uses JDNI to make available LDAP read-only operations. The SSO is distributed in the standard northgatearinso-sso.jar. It is called com.northgatearinso.proiv.sso.ldapmanager.LDAPManager and is accessible through PROIV logic. You can use it in your own functions to meet your LDAP needs. It is important to note and it is important to note that you do not have to use the LDAP User-Defined Logon to take advantage of the LDAP SSO's functionality, just reference it in your own function. Also note, that the User-Defined Logon configuration tool (User-Defined Logon Configuration window) is not necessarily required in this scenario.
