PROIV Version 6.x and Java
PROIV Version 6 makes extensive use of Java Virtual Machine technology and, as a result, a Java Virtual Machine is required for PROIV to function correctly. As a guide PROIV requires a minimum of Java 5 to be installed on the target platform, along with any recommended operating system patches, prior to installation.
Some platforms do not support Java 5 due to the policies of their vendors. In these cases PROIV will support earlier Java 1.4 releases. However, it is likely that at some point in the future these platforms will be discontinued.
