PROIV Customer Conference - 2011

Delegates at the recent PROIV Customer Conference enjoyed presentations, demonstrations and discussions, over the two day event hosted by Dexter & Chaney (DCI) at their offices in Seattle.

 

Tony Whitehead, NGA’s Software Services Director, opened the event with an update on the Northgate Information Solutions Group and in particular, NorthgateArinso (NGA). He summarised NGA’s vision and demonstrated why the company is a leader in the solutions and services it offers. Tony highlighted the fact that PROIV is a cornerstone in the portfolio of solutions delivered by NGA and thus NGA remains committed to PROIV. Tony also told the Conference that NGA wholly believes and supports the products which our Business Partners have created with PROIV.

 

Andy Downer, PROIV VP and General Manager, spoke of partnerships between NGA and companies in the US and Europe, where NGA was supporting the development of leading edge products which are filling a niche or satisfying a need. He also extended his personal support to Business Partners at all stages of their business, whether that be product design, marketing, hosting or closing deals in the boardroom. “We’re willing to do what it takes to make our Business Partners successful.” says Andy.

 

Gareth Talbot from PROIV’s business in the Asia Pacific region gave an update on the regional market, which is further developing its need for solutions and services despite the turmoil in the global economy. Gareth believes that the region needs innovative business solutions and some of the PROIV Business Partners have excellent opportunities to market their solutions in the region. Gareth said that NGA wants to work with its Business Partners to help them penetrate other countries and regions. James Sanderson gave a product status update and presented the new features in PROIV Version 7, Aurora and Open Client. Highlights included:

  • Dynamic resizing, which allows the resizing and relocating objects based on the size of the web browser.
  • A New grid like look to paging screens in Open Client, which when coupled with Dynamic Resizing can hold more information both horizontally and vertically.
  • LDAP support
  • Drag and Drop capability

 

James also gave details on how NGA is expanding the PROIV talent pool by establishing a new development team in India. He also re-affirmed NGA’s commitment not to issue an end of life statement on the MFC Client. However, James did state that NGA would not add new features to it in preference to Open Client.

 

Over the two days, several customers also gave presentations of their latest products.

Our host, John Chaney from DCI, told the Conference how Spectrum has 30 years of proven history using PROIV as the business logic powering their application. John also demonstrated how they were using Aurora to revolutionize their users’ experience of Spectrum through zero foot print deployment and the flexible Aurora user interface.

Jeff Crumb from Simply Hearing demonstrated his audiology application which he will be rolling out in the very near future.  Jeff has recently been working with NorthgateArinso to ensure that PROIV Multilingual gave him the features he needed to deploy his application in Asia. The focus of Jeff’s demonstration was the smooth and seamless implementation of PROIV’s translation of the screens into Chinese. Delegates found Jeff’s presentation inspirational.

Bill Wood from Visionship spoke about the product he is rolling out, which will be powered by PROIV. Bill is utilising many different technologies including a signature capturing application designed for the mobile platforms and PROIV will pull all of this together.  Bill also explained that Visionship and NorthgateArinso were working together to write and deliver the new software.

 

The second day of the conference was given over to PROIV product planning, the delegates split into four groups to brainstorm ideas product service and delivery ideas.  There was wide range of topics discussed the main discussion points included:

  • Enabling business partners with a mechanism for sharing code and components
  • Providing more targeted bite sized online training and webinars
  • OpenClient platforms, licensing and delivery
  • Improved support for live systems
  • PROIV Developer and open source
  • User Interface experience, grids and new screen timing cycles

 


James also presented PROIV’s thoughts on potential product direction, key highlights included:

  • PROIV Application Performance Profiler
  • Timing cycle support for XML documents and data sources
  • Daemon based implementation for Unix
  • PROIV on mobile devices
  • PROIV Debugger

 

All at the Conference hailed it a great success and looked forward to the next event.
