Version 6 Licensing

PROIV Version 6 introduces a new and improved Licensing system.

These improvements include the following:

  • A universal licensing model which covers all PROIV Version 6 components
  • Improved visibility and manageability of licence information

View all licence information from the PROIV Control Panel
    Track licence usage

  • Flexible licence configuration options

Components of a single PROIV Version 6 installation can be on different machines
Multiple instances of PROIV Version 6 components can be licensed from a central location

  • A streamlined installation process

Separate install and activation keys are no longer required for product components
A temporary licence file is provided and a permanent licence file issued once configuration details are known

  • IP licensing, allowing each user PC to run up to ten concurrent sessions with a single licence (either Development or Runtime licence)

Component Licensing

PROIV Version 6 introduces the following licence types:

  • PROIV Development
  • PROIV Runtime
  • PROIV Gateway packs
  • Other runtime & development options

The following table lists the main licence components.

Gateway Packs

PROIV Version 6 introduces optional Gateway Packs. These new licensed components will boost the throughput and speed of the PROIV Gateway (replacement for the PROIV Version 5 Bus).

Licensing Architecture

The Licence Server is a standalone server application that services licence requests from PROIV Version 6 components. It is targeted to run on a specific server in a PROIV installation. This may or may not be the same server as the various components in the PROIV installation. The Licence Server accepts and validates connections from the Licensing API embedded in each PROIV Version 6 component against the licence file.

PROIV Version 6 Licensing Model

Licence file

The PROIV Version 6 licence file is the sole source of licensing information for the Licence Server. When a change is needed to be made to a customer's licensing, the entire file is re-issued and replaces the previous one. The licence file and Licence Server are maintained through the PROIV Control Panel. The PROIV Control Panel allows the following licence information to be managed:

View current configuration - Displays all licences in the current Licence File.

Update configuration file - Allows a user to upload a new licence file into the Licence Server. Any changes to the licence configuration are reflected dynamically across the PROIV Version 6 environment. This new process replaces the old two stage process of licence implementation.

View current licence usage - Reports all licences currently in use. For each licence it displays the client IP, application type using it and period it has been in use.

Revoke specific licence - Each of the licences displayed on the above page can be revoked.

Viewable Log - Displays the Licence Server log.

Licence expiry dates

Each PROIV Version 6 licence has an expiry date which can be either absolute (key expires on a given date) or relative (key expires after a period of time). In addition, within the licence file, the same licence type can exist with different expiry dates. Thus, temporary additions to the number of licences and an evaluation mode are supported.

Emergency Mode

A customer can download an emergency key from a restricted area of the PROIV website. This key will include an unlimited number of licences for each licence type, valid for any server. Each licence type will be restricted with an absolute expiry date for the emergency period of seven days. Should an emergency key be used, please contact your Account Manager immediately to arrange a permanent solution.
