Version 6 Components

PROIV Version 6 is delivered as an integrated tool set. It includes the Web Development tool, a new Gateway replacement for the old PROIV Bus (high performance API into PROIV), a new Web Services framework, a new Multi-Lingual lexicon and a new web based Control Panel.

PROIV Active Web

Is a highly efficient server based scripting language deployed via a Java Servlet. It promotes the reuse of business rules through its access to Java Beans and PROIV business rules from the PROIV Virtual Machine. It combines these objects with standard mark-up language (XML/XSL or HTML) to deliver dynamic web applications.

PROIV Client

The PROIV Client is a small footprint 32 bit Windows program that handles the power user interface. It provides a Multiple Document Interface (MDI), and it communicates with the Virtual Machine via a PROIV hints protocol running over TCP/IP. PROIV applications can also make use of client side third-party ActiveX components.

PROIV Client Administration

Allows the PROIV Client to be held in a central location from where it can be securely distributed to application users, negating the need for any software to be manually installed on client PC’s. Centrally applied updates are then automatically distributed next time the user accesses the system.

PROIV Control Panel

Provides the PROIV administrator with a browser based tool to manage all of the components in a PROIV installation. Dynamic changes to PROIV components, viewing of statistics using the real-time graphing and charting facility, and error diagnosis are all available.

PROIV Developer

Is the PROIV development environment for creating PROIV business rules & power user interfaces for the PROIV Client.

PROIV Gateway

Connects PROIV Active Web & PROIV Web Services to the PROIV Virtual Machine. It is a high speed distributed channel used for inter-process communication. The PROIV Gateway also allows PROIV business rules to be exposed as components that can be called by external third party applications via defined (Java and C) APIs.

PROIV Multilingual

Allows a single application to be rendered in different languages or styles for different users. A PROIV lexicon holds translations for screen prompts, messages and error messages for different target audiences. The language used in the presentation layer can be simply switched at runtime for either PROIV Client or Browser presentation.

PROIV Runtime Administration

Allows administrative tasks to be performed in a runtime only PROIV environment (e.g. function import /export & security tasks).

PROIV Statistics

Automatically gathers event data from the various components that make up a PROIV installation. These events can be viewed individually or in summary over a time period. Average, minimum & maximum values are available & displayed graphically within the PROIV Control Panel.

PROIV Virtual Machine

The heart of PROIV is a VM holding the application business rules. It is made up of many reusable pre-compiled components, each handling a discrete task. Programs are developed by defining at a high level any required screen / report layout, processing characteristics and error handling. PROIV then uses this to build a linkage table through the pre-compiled components, the result being a highly performant run-time program. These programs can be global, allowing high levels of re-use of both business logic and presentation. PROIV has its own procedural logic language which may optionally be invoked at pre-defined points in a program, giving the developer the ability to override or fine-control most aspects of the program.

PROIV Web Developer

Is a JavaScript and mark-up language editor & debugger that parses and highlights your code as you develop. It comes with an integrated browser so you can preview your work, be it server-side JavaScript, client-side JavaScript, HTML, XML, XHTML or text files. The debugger allows you to find bugs, track program flow, view server-state and evaluate expressions.

PROIV Web Services

Allows business rules held in the PROIV VM to be grouped together and exposed to the outside world as Web Services, using a point & click publish mechanism. No knowledge of the various Web Service standards is required, as PROIV automatically generates all the standard SOAP & WSDL documents.
